Digital Frontiers’ continuous monitoring and measurement of impact over the past eight years has been focused on the reach and recipients of courses and programmes. To comprehensively assess our impact on practitioners, organisations, and countries, we have conducted annual third-party monitoring and evaluation exercises. These exercises have involved the analysis of survey data, in-person one-on-one interviews and focus groups with alumni, employers, and sectoral players. Throughout the evaluation process, students and alumni consistently expressed high satisfaction with our courses. They reported enhanced knowledge, increased awareness of international case studies, increased networks and opportunities in the sector, and heightened confidence in applying their acquired knowledge within workplaces or communities of practice (CoPs). By upskilling, we can better support regulators such as national banks, ministries, trade cooperatives and planning authorities” – Gabriel Kamuge, DGRV UgandaClick here to read all prior reports and case studies: 2023 MMR REPORT 2022 MMR REPORT 2020 MMR REPORT 2019 MMR REPORT 2018 MMR REPORT ACCION CASE STUDY BANK OF KIGALI CASE STUDY Bank of Bangladesh Case study MTN CASE STUDY ZAMBIAN CASE STUDY UGANDA CASE STUDYInfographics We are grateful to our partners for their belief in the sustainability of empowering professionals in developing countries. Without their contributions, we could not have made such a significant & positive impact on industries, communities & individuals.” – Gavin Krugel, CEO, Digital FrontiersDigital Finance This report extracts some of the impact DFI has had on individuals, organisations and countries, such as:Capacity in digital finance professionals & service providers has increased. Institutional capacity for digital finance Regulation has increased in both regulators & digital finance providers. As a result, digital finance policies, regulations & directives have been developed or adapted by our alumni. Cross-sector collaboration has increased resulting in new country-based initiatives along policy, product, customer needs and inclusion. ScaleGender This report extracts some of the impact DFI has had on individuals, organisations and countries, such as:Gender capacity and mobilisation of a global network of changemakers among digital finance professionals and service providers who accelerate the progress toward gender equality within organisations has increased. The body of knowledge of professionals with an understanding of the tools and techniques to develop changes in organisational behaviour and attitudes toward gender equality has expanded. Increased number of organisations that adopt policies and practices which encourages and rely on the efforts of Gender Equality Changemakers and undertake gender equality change projects. Reduction in systemic and systematic gender policy gaps which in turn reduces the prevalence of gender inequality and imbalances of gender based power dynamics within organisations. ScaleWithout women’s voices raising issues relevant to women, companies will potentially be blind to these problems” – Debra Roodt, ex-Commercial Director at DFI For the greater good of society We aim to contribute to achieving gender equality in developing countries. Global statistics on the persistent gender gap that exists within digital financial services indicate that only 30% of professionals are women. From 2018 to 2020, we saw an above average 34% of professional women participating in Digital Frontiers training initiatives.Growing a community This story of impact spans the globe – as our reach has grown both online and off over the years. This increased capacity has manifested in various ways but each year the themes have been consistent. All have spoken about their increased knowledge and skills, and how they have applied these in their work. Many have also spoken about increased networking skills and larger networks, especially as a result of participation in the CoPs. Both quantitative data drawn from the post-CIDM surveys and qualitative interviews have consistently confirmed practitioners’ declarations that their DFS capacity has indeed improved. Most felt the training opened their mind and thus they approach their work with a better understanding (94%), and that they are more confident about the topic, which enables them to readily contribute to work projects (94%).
